Zoe and Beans Book Review

Zoe and Beans Book Review

We were recently sent a selection of 'Zoe and Beans' books to review with Jack. As I have previously stated I love reading with Jack, and feel it is an important part to his development. Even before I started blogging Jack had so many books and we love to add to the collection.

The 'Zoe and Beans' books were created by a father and daughter duo, Mick and Chloe. Mick Inkpen is a popular picture book writer/illustrator and created the famous Kipper and Wibbly Pig range. His daughter Chloe was brought up surrounded by picture books and also has a love of illustration. The stories are about a young girl called Zoe and her best friend Beans who is a dog. There is also another character called Oscar, who they become friends with.

'Hello Oscar' was one of the books we were sent to review. 'Hello Oscar' is a picture book and gives an insight into Zoe and Beans first meeting with Oscar. This is a large book with bright and clear illustrations. Within this book there is a lot more of a story feel, and keeps older children engaged throughout. We have had this story read quite a lot recently as Jack has really taken a liking to it. Throughout the book Zoe and Beans meet a lot of animals, and finally meeting Oscar near the end. A lot of repetition is used throughout the story of 'Hello Oscar' which as I've mentioned before really encourages the younger children to stay involved.

We were also sent 'How Many Pets?' and 'Look At Me!' to review. These are hard back books, and are a lot smaller than 'Hello Oscar.' I found these easier for Jack to 'read' alone as he loves looking at simple books. Each of the books are lovely, and again feature clear, bright illustrations. Each page has a small amount of text, perfect for babies just starting out talking and toddlers. The books are great quality, hence why I have no problems with Jack reading them alone. 'How Many Pets?' is Jack's favourite as there is such a wide selection of animals so he tends to name them all in his own language. This book sees Zoe, Beans and Oscar count along from one to ten. 'Look At Me!' sees Zoe, Beans and Oscar explore the dressing up box, and dress up as a variety of different characters.

Jack loves to look through all of the Zoe and Beans collection we received as the pictures are very bright and eye catching for him, and he also has a lovely of animals. There are other books within the Zoe and Beans range. the books are priced at £5.99 and are published by Macmillan Kids UK.

I am lucky enough to be able to give you an opportunity to win a copy of both Zoe and Beans How Many Pets and Zoe and Beans Look At Me! There will be two winners, one for each book. UK Residents only for Competition
