Schwartz Chicken Dinner Winner

Schwartz Chicken Dinner Winner.
This post is an entry for BritMums ‘What’s for Dinner Tonight?’ sponsored by Schwartz. Find out more about the new 2in1 mixes here
It's simple to get in the same routine of eating the same meals, especially since being a parent, we opt for quick meals and sometimes it can be hard to enjoy foods with flavour. Ashley and I both love to cook, him more so than me and we both enjoy flavoursome foods. Where Jack is concerned we are very lucky and he will eat anything placed in front of him. However, having the time to prepare and cook a meal once home from work can be difficult. That is where the Schwartz 2 in 1 Sachets came in useful for us.

Schwartz 2in1 Garlic Roast Chicken

I had applied to try the Schwartz 2 in 1 sachets with Britmums, however as a busy mum had forgotten about applying, to say I was excited when they arrived is an understatement. I was sent a packet of Mediterranean Chicken Pasta and Cheesy Crumb Topping and a packet of Garlic & Thyme Roast Chicken and Crispy Roast Potatoes. Each packet is split into two, one section being the seasoning for the main dish with the other being a complimentary side or topping dependant upon the dish. I quickly decided some ways in which we could use these and started by using the Garlic & Thyme Roast Chicken mix.

I started by reading the instructions upon the packaging and preparing the items which we were using. We began by mixing the seasoning for the chicken with a little oil and then brushing it over the uncooked chicken, this then acts as the flavouring. We followed by covering it in foil and placing it within the oven. Whilst this was starting to cook I began peeling and slicing some potatoes, after 35 minutes you add some oil to a separate roasting tin and pre-heat for 10 minutes whilst you parboil the potatoes. The potatoes are then drained and covered in the seasoning, this was very simple to do and then you place the potatoes into the oil and cook for a further 45 minutes. All the timings upon the packaging were clear and enabled the meal to cook to perfection.

I served this meal with some vegetables and created a 'Sunday Lunch' with it. The overall smell of the dish when cooking created a lovely scent around our home, which I enjoyed. Normally I am not a fan of cooked chicken breast as I find it too dry, however I tried some with this topping and found it incredibly succulent and tasty. The overall dish was very tasty, and enjoyed by all of us, in fact we went up for seconds and that never happens! We will definitely be trying this again, in fact I have already brought another sachet along with some of the other varieties.
