Last March we were chosen as 'Little Tiger Panellists', just before Christmas we were sent another selection of books from the team at Little Tiger Press. We received 'My First Life and Learn:First Words' and 'My First Jumbo Tab Book: Things That Go'.
My First Lift and Learn: First Words.
This series of books comes in a variety of subjects including first words, baby animals, first numbers and first colours. "Introducing inquisitive toddlers to key concepts, My First Lift & Learn: First Words and Baby Animals are durable lift-the-flap board books with a carry handle. Packed with colour photographs, each page features a flap to lift and children can take them wherever they go, encouraging language skills, hand-eye co-ordination and memory skills."
Initially I didn't think Jack would learn much from this book as he was going through just lifting the flaps, however after around a week Jack began saying new words which were in the book (which we don't always use). We then got to the stage of myself pointing at the picture and Jack saying the words.
The book is very well made, very sturdy with thick board pages. The book includes a large flap with a picture on one side, then you lift the flap for the word and a picture in action. The font is printed clearly and boldly so easy for toddlers to see. Each page is brightly coloured so keeps your child's interest.
My First Jumbo Tab Book: Things That Go.
This series of books comes in two subjects including 'My Busy Day' and 'Things That Go'. "Take your toddler through their busy day or teach them about all things that go with these curved board books, featuring sturdy tabs to make the pages easy for little hands to select and turn. Introduce new vocabulary and first words by encouraging children to point at, name and describe the recognizable everyday objects on each page."
Jack loves vehicles, initially I thought it was just trains and cars, but it seems its all of them. Again, this book is quite chunky and is very sturdy with board pages, it features shaped tabs for each category of 'things that go'. Each page features a range of vehicles with a picture and a clear, bold word with the name of the vehicle. This again encourages your child to learn names of vehicles with images. Unlike the 'First Words' book, Jack is more interested in the pictures in this book. But as he gets older I do feel it would help him and be something hes really interested in.
Each of these books retail at £5.99. I believe this to be the same as others in its range, I would happily purchase more books from the range and recommend to others too.
Please Note: We received two books for the purpose of this review, all opinions are my own.
