Considering a Loft Conversion

Thursday, 5 June 2014
For a while now a loft conversion has been on my home wish list, but limited finances and a home that isn't mine solely it may be a dream for a little while longer, many houses on our street have loft conversions, including our direct neighbours which is where my wish began.

In an ideal world, I would love to create a fourth bedroom up their with an ensuing, one bathroom and two families isn't ideal. This would give Jack a larger room and his tiny one could become an office or playroom until we have another baby.

However, with a loft conversion there are many things to consider, as there are with any project. How would we make it look not to cluttered? Where would we store everything which we currently store up there? I mean, we have old memories, Christmas decorations and lots of other things which I don't have a clue about. Stairs, how would we get up there? We live in an old house so the stair case is narrow and I'm not sure where else we could place stairs.then there's the issue of light, where would we place windows, how many would we need to ensure enough light was in there.

One thing I do know about the window choice is we would choose VELUX, they are renowned for their high quality. When the time comes to getting a loft conversion I'm sure the website will give lots of tips on ensuring enough light. VELUX also do a fantastic range of blinds, and have teamed up with Disney to create some blinds which I'm sure Jack would love.

Of course there are lots of other ways to ensure lots of light and air by getting the interior correct. This is something to consider afterwards. One thing is certain converting the loft space is a great way to add value to your house.

Have you converted your loft space? What do you use it for?

  1. My friends have converted their loft into an office. We use ours for storage space!
