Today sees the release of Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie on DVD, just perfectly timed for half term. When we saw the advertisements for the film at the cinema Jack would give us lots of 'wows' and keep telling us how much he would love to watch it, however we are not yet brave enough to try the cinema with him. So when given the opportunity to review the DVD just before release we jumped at the chance.
Directed by Steve Martino characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the 'Peanuts' gang make their animated film debut in this heartwarming story.
The story line is about a well loved and popular boy, Charlie Brown, who has the habit of being clumsy and making mistakes, try and win the heart of the new girl in school. In the mean time his best pal Snoopy, is taking to the skies to pursue his arch nemesis, the Red Barron.
So Jack and I set of to watch the film, he'd never watched anything with Snoopy in before but he really did enjoy it. His favourite character was Snoopy, he loves animals so was sure to be a favourite. The movie isn't too long, so perfect for children Jack was engrossed the whole time as there is always something to keep their attention. There was lots of giggles throughout with the amount of humour included.
Our favourite part of the film was when Charlie Brown was getting himself ready to press the new girl's doorbell and just as he was about to back out, Snoopy rushes and presses it.
I'm a little too young to remember the original Charlie Brown and Snoopy clips however from snaps I've seen the characters are just as the originals, which is nice for adults too. From what was a comic strip originally its been translated to film really well.
With the DVD you can go deeper into the film and world of Snoopy and Charlie Brown with lots of special features. Including step by step drawing tutorials, dance and sing along and Snoopy Snippets.
We both really enjoyed the film, and I'm sure it's going to be one of those we end up watching over and over. It's definitely one we would recommend.
