Summer fun with Buzzy Bee and Wyevale Garden Centres

Wednesday, 9 August 2017
Finding activities to keep the kids entertained during the summer holidays can be a bit tricky, especially with the ever changing weather. Trying not to resort to screen time, or the repetitiveness of the same activities Wyevale are running various summer events to get you out the house.

With this in mind, we were invited along to Wyevale to try out a couple of the activities and attended breakfast with Buzzy along with the Potty for Bees event. They do have lots of other activities too which you can try out. The events are running through until the 31st August. Aimed at children 3-8 years old, although Isla got enjoyment from it too at just turned 2.

Breakfast with Buzzy Bee.
The first event we attended was a breakfast event with Buzzy himself. This event saw us have breakfast in the cafe along with some different activities too.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were shown to a table which had been set up in a area laid out with activity sheets. Shortly afterwards we were brought our breakfasts and drinks too. Both of the children loved their breakfasts, with Jack eating it all which was a shock. Shortly after finishing our breakfast we were brought over a selection of goodies to make our own bee boppers, Jack enjoyed making these, I helped Isla with hers and then we got set to wearing them.

The children then set to having a dance along with Buzzy wearing their boppers.

Following this, we went on a treasure hunt around the garden centre looking for hidden letters with little facts and questions about bees on them. It was short to keep the little ones entertained, at the end of it, each child got a pack of seeds as a prize. At the end of the trail, we headed back to the restaurant where a cupcake decorating activity was waiting for us. We had a cupcake and some balls of icing, which we made into bees and placed on top of the cakes.

The children and Buzzy then did a conga around the garden centre to let off some more steam before returning to a decorate a biscuit activity which they could either take home and do or whilst there.

The session lasted around an hour and a half in total and we all had such a lovely time. The children thoroughly enjoyed all the different activities too

Potty for Bees.

The other activity we attended was a potty for bees event. This event was a lot shorter than the previous we attended and started later too. We arrived at the garden centre to find a separate table area set out ready.
Everything we needed to decorate our pots was ready within individual tubs on the tables. Each set had some soil, a pot, striped paper to go around a pipe cleaner and googly eyes with a tub of seeds to share. The lady doing the event showed us a ready made pot which was simple enough to follow but offered help along the way too. This activity took around 10-15 minutes to complete but the children loved it and are so excited for their seeds to being to grow in there bee pots.

I've been looking at the other events and they look great too so I will probably take the children along to a couple of others at some point over the holidays too.
With plenty of Wyevales dotted around, there is sure to be an event near you too.

Please Note: We received free entry to both of these events in exchange for a post. All thoughts and opinions are my own and not influenced in any way.
