Enjoying a Roast at Toby Carvery, Burnt Tree Island | A Review

Monday, 30 April 2018
Every once in a while, nothing beats having someone cook for you and do the washing up afterwards. So when we were offered the opportunity to visit the recently refurbished Toby Carvery at Burnt Tree, Dudley we took up the offer. Just recently Jack has been obsessed with carveries so this couldn't have come at a better time for him.

There's something about a roast, and I don't know about you but it always tastes better when someone else cooks it right?

Upon arrival, there were a few issues with our booking but these were sorted and after a little wait we were shown to our table. There were the 5 of us in total with many bags so we went up to the carvery area in two sittings. Jack had a child's carvery whilst as Isla isn't really much of an eater she had a small bowl which we could pop some vegetables onto.

We all opted for each of the different meats, all of which were full of flavour and so tasty. One thing I love about Toby Carvery, is no matter what meat you order you can have a Yorkshire pudding, because who doesn't love a Yorkie? even the children can have one. There is also a choice of stuffing and pork crackling for all to choose from, again no matter what your meat.

I think it goes without saying, when you go to a carvery you always get an 'eyes bigger than belly' moment, ending up with another vegetable that you missed. There was a range of vegetables on offer and whilst some were running out they were being replenished by the staff. We found that what some of us had, the second lot couldn't as it wasn't replenished yet.

There was a wide choice of meat and vegetables on offer and there was something to suit everyone. Whilst we all had carveries, there are some other choices available on the menu for others who do not wish specifically for a carvery.

Toby Carvery is one of those restaurants which are loved by families - generally, once you're seated you can have your roast practically straight away - perfect for the younger children who don't like to sit and wait.

After our meals, we were pleasantly stuffed, but of course, we still opted to have a pudding - after a little rest. Jack loves having a pudding after his meal so I totally blame him for this,  we wouldn't want him eating alone. We each opted for a different pudding, Jack having a make your own sundae, Isla having a bowl of ice cream, my mum opted for an Eton Mess Sundae, Ashley opted for a brownie whilst I had a chocolate sundae.

Each of our puddings were delicious and full of flavour, enough to finish you off after such a tasty carvery.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and we would definitely return to that franchise again, however maybe next time we will be complete with a carvery as we were all rather stuffed following the pudding.

Please Note: We were reimbursed for the cost of this meal, receiving a £50 voucher to cover the costings.
